Great Movie

Pan's Labyrinth was probably my favorite movie of 2006.

Why you ask?

Oh, I will tell you.

First, it is very well done. The special effects in this movie will blow your mind. The creative team behind this movie has successfully brought fantasy to life with a quality that is unmatched with the exception of The Lord of the Rings.

Second, the movie is storytelling of the highest sort. Rather than speaking a message directly or allegorically, Mr. Del Toro presents an image of Love in the form of Myth. He doesn't rely on contrived Hollywood archetypes or directly tell his audience what to think. Instead he engages his viewers with masterful film work and classical almost poetic Dialogue.

Lastly, it has a theme that truly moves your soul even if you don't know why at first. Truly it is a story of sacrificial love. I don't want to give too much away, but in the end sacrificial love is what saves the young heroin’s soul from a world of inhuman cruelty.

Don't miss your chance to see this movie when it comes to DVD.
